A recent Associated Press headline on the ABC News site reads “College Prices up Again as States Slash Budgets.” The article reports that “This year total outstanding student loan debt has passed $1 trillion, now exceeding credit card debt. And concerns about student loan debt have been front and center with many of the Occupy Wall Street protesters.”

It goes on to quote Terry Hartle, senior vice president of the American Council on Education: “To see increases of 20 percent, as we saw in California, to see gains of 15 percent in other states, is simply unprecedented…. Tuition is simply being used as a revenue substitute in many states.”

That story makes the following previously issued letter from the Executive Director of Hubbard College once again very relevant to the current economic climate.

I thought you might find it interesting that according to the National Inflation Association, the yearly tuition at private colleges has increased over 20% in just the last 5 years.

This gives a yearly tuition rate of about $26,000 — this is in spite of the economic downtrend over that same period of time.

How is it possible that students are able to pay for these increases in tuition? By just taking out more government funded student loans sponsored by YOU the taxpayer.

Please have a look at the following excerpts from the National Inflation Association’s article.

“The college tuition bubble has been fueled by the U.S. government’s willingness to give out easy student loans to anybody who applies for them. If it wasn’t for the government student loans, the free market would force colleges to provide the best quality education at the lowest possible price. By the government trying to make colleges more affordable, they have actually driven prices through the roof. Colleges have been encouraged to spend recklessly on wasteful construction projects, building new libraries, gyms, sports arenas, housing units, etc. Colleges spent $10.7 billion on construction projects in 2009. Although this is down from the average of $14.7 billion per year colleges spent on construction projects from 2005 to 2007, colleges are still struggling to pay off their old construction related debt. When interest rates start to rise, it will add further upside pressure to college tuition prices.

“College students borrowed $106 billion in total student loans for the 2009-2010 school year, up from $96 billion in 2008-2009, $94 billion in 2007-2008, $87 billion in 2006-2007, and $83 billion in 2005-2006.

“Total student loan debt in the U.S. currently (as of 2010) stands at $830 billion and now exceeds credit card debt. President Obama’s new student loan bill that was passed last year now makes the government the primary lender to students.

“By taking the free market out of the student loan business and allowing students to receive loans from the government at artificially low interest rates, colleges will be encouraged to spend more recklessly than ever.

“None of this wasteful spending is doing anything to improve the quality of education in America.”

Conversely, Hubbard College takes no Government Funded Taxpayer monies to fund our programs.

In addition, our students are consistently producing results in the real world on their apprenticeships and internships. They routinely turn companies around in spite of the economy. For real eaxamples go to this link: Hubbard College Blog

These results give our students the confidence and certainty to really be a success in any economy and is why we still have a 100% job placement statistic upon graduation.

This along with our lifetime warranty (which no other college offers) presents a strong case to have your friends consider Hubbard College.

By the way our tuition per year is still 40% less than the above rates.

I am very interested in your feedback on the above.

My very best,

Nick Terrenzi Hubbard College International

I wanted to write to you and let you know how thrilled we are with the education that our son is receiving at Hubbard College. Alex started the Degree Program when he was just 16, having graduated early from high school. It has been a little over a year and a half and he is well through the program. I have been very impressed with his training. The way the education is laid out with him studying all the different areas of business administration first in the courseroom and then by the actual application of what he has learned has given him so much ability and certainty that he seems way older than his 18 years. I have received many compliments from business owners he has worked with in the application of his studies with respect to his professionalism and the quality of the products he has achieved with and for them.

He really “knows his stuff” and it is very impressive. What he is learning is the very real world tools to manage and expand a business and this is so very important. One of the things that has impressed me is how he applies these tools to his life and to others. He has applied many of these tools to his band “Diffuse the Reign” and as a result they are more organized, expanding and popular. He is very interested in using these tools which is the true test of an education.

I myself have a Bachelors of Science from the University of Illinois, and I only wish I had gotten such an excellent, practical, thorough and real-world education. I would highly recommend the Hubbard College Degree Program to anyone who desires and intends to be successful in life, and any parent who wants to provide their son or daughter with the education and tools to succeed in anything they decide to pursue in life.

Thank you again.

My son, Cassidy Turbin attended the Hubbard College to acquire his degree as well as to gain the experience and knowledge he had heard the college was known for.

Cassidy has always been a very confident and bright student and had already been active in the field of his career choice at a very early age. He is a musician and by the age of 16 was teaching a number of students and already had traveled to New York and LA to study and play with some of the best. He had studied at the Musicians Institute (LA) as well as The Drummer’s Collective (NY). The career path he had chosen was strewn with obstacles he had not been able to overcome in order to achieve the high standards he had set for himself as a musician and in other areas of his life.

His approach in dealing with this was to gain the “business skills” he felt he lacked and that he needed to have in order to be able to confront and deal with what he saw he was running into. He wanted to succeed in the upper end of music industry.

In checking out many schools we all agreed the Hubbard College offered not only the information and skills he desired but also the approach was quite unique. The school offered apprenticeships after the majority of his classes as well as practical application. This is not like any other school we had looked into.

While at the Hubbard College, Cassidy was allowed to work in many fields, “applying” what he was learning while he was studying. He was able to work in a variety of workforces as well as to apprentice in very prestigious businesses such as a Post Production Studio (music), all broadening his views of what it is truly like in a variety of fields.

While Cassidy was going through his program he was gradually gaining skills, maturing and becoming wiser to the many aspects of the music business and forming many new views. I witnessed his increased ability to handle greater areas of life, his reaching out and addressing greater spheres of influence. He was also successfully helping many other people of all ages on a routine basis. Through these internships he received letters of recommendation and job offers before graduating.

The gain in confidence, knowledge and skills he obtained from attending and graduating Hubbard College are gains which helped him succeed to be who he is now.

Very soon after graduating, Cassidy was hired by a multi-platinum winning singer songwriter and within months moved up to becoming this musician’s engineer. He is experiencing and witnessing many new things on a daily basis, meeting and working with amazing and very talented people. Within 6 months he had an engineering credit on the #1 song on the album Eclipse (Twilight). He is working amongst the elite in his field, the music industry. This was his goal in attending Hubbard College. He made it. He now has many more goals he knows he will achieve.

I have been surprised to see the kinds of things she is handling and the number of different people and businesses with which she has worked.

One of the most often heard comments by managers in business is that people just coming out of high school or college lack any sense of how things work in the real world. I know my daughter will not have that problem. She has broad and varied experience doing real work and applying real management solutions to real business requirements.

Hubbard College’s format allows the student to work at their own pace. This has allowed my daughter to schedule her part-time job and her college study so that she never has to wait on a course to be available or have to juggle her schedule.

I have watched my daughter grow into someone who is able to take on any challenge and she does it easily. I have no doubt that she will achieve whatever she sets her sights on.

Through Hiro’s degree program he has become much more powerful and stable! This has made me realize the importance of the administrative knowledge that he is learning. Because of this I have decided to study and learn the administrative technology myself.

I believe that as Hiro continues to learn more of the administrative technology, he will apply what he has learned not just for himself but to help others.

I have been very happy with the tools and wins he has been having by applying those tools to life and other people. He has been helping others with these tools already and is seeing how applying these data and techniques can help himself and others.

By doing apprenticeships on his study materials, I think the practical application of what he is studying is really hitting home. He has also already gained skills that will help him to get more done and as a future executive, get others to get more done.

At this point, I would already highly recommend this program to anyone that wants to prepare their child to succeed in life, no matter what their career path is.

I’m so happy to write some words about my life now after I graduated Hubbard College of Administration.

After I completed my Associate Degree a month ago I came back home to Russia. Everything is fine with me I found a job that I wanted in the Central Training Company, which is a WISE consulting company. It is really great as I will be able to work in the company that applies Administrative Technology and advises others to help them to expand their businesses and be more prosperous. I work with very enthusiastic people in a productive atmosphere! It is a great opportunity for me to get a super experience.

But honestly when I first came home some of my friends were doubtful that I would find a job so fast. So many people around me were talking about financial crisis and that it is very difficult to find a job and a lot of similar stuff. But I understood that they just didn’t have the knowledge, which I’ve obtained from being a student of Hubbard College of Administration. I remember about using an intention and being enthusiastic. I applied correct conditions and as a result I got what I wanted.

It is only a beginning of my career but with a Hubbard College of Administration Associate Degree my chances to be successful in this world are very high! I really believe in it. Now I even more clearly can see how valuable this career education is.

P/S I so miss the friendly Hubbard College of Administration atmosphere! I will always remember that happy time:-)

Dear Hubbard College,

I recently received your DVD regarding your college and I wanted to share with you how professional and informative it was. I really enjoyed hearing the student’s feedback. They looked like strong, healthy minded individuals. From their own attestation, this has a lot to do with your institution.

From a community and business standpoint, I was very surprised and impressed on how many who were in leadership positions endorse and support your establishment. It was very impressive.

However, my very favorite was hearing from the parents. Wow, that was moving. You could see on every single parents face the love for their children as well as the genuine thanks and appreciation for what the college has done for them. In every parent’s story, there was that sign of such relief and confidence that they were not going to have to worry about their child anymore, that they had accomplished what all parents want for their children, and that is the knowledge that they will be able to take care of themselves. That is what being a parent is all about, helping that individual to prepare for life. It’s not that your job as a parent is ever done, but knowing that your child can take care of himself takes a huge weight off of your shoulders and changes the game completely. As a parent, you are now coasting and reaping the benefits of all of your hard work. Looks like these parents have accomplished that.

	Kudos to you Hubbard College!

	With Love,

		Bridgette Wechsler
